Remember the incredible sacrifices, the courage and the faith of our founding fathers this long holiday weekend. We are, and always will be one nation under God!
the lifeline that is local broadcasters
Regardless of what you think about local TV, there is no denying the importance of the role they play in the event of an emergency. I am confident in saying that local broadcasters saved lives when a tornado struck Moore OK in May.
This is a short video produced jointly by the University of Oklahoma and the Broadcast Education Association on the role local broadcasters play as first informers during an emergency, specifically the Moore tornado.
As recent activity has resulted in multi-billion dollar mergers and acquisitions in the local television industry, it is my hope these mega-ownership groups remember one of the main reasons they have a license. It's not about utilizing an increased station portfolio to leverage yourselves for increased revenue...your number one objective remains the same...keeping residents safe and informed!
friday fav - gopro
I don't want this to sound like an endorsement for GoPro, but let's be honest...that's exactly what it is. I love these cameras. The first purchase I approved when I joined WVEC a few years ago was a GoPro camera. The picture quality on these little cameras is amazing, and getting better with each new version. Every TV station and production house should have at least one.
Here's to seeing what amazing video you can capture with your camera, no matter what kind it is.
Hope you have a great weekend!
