Portrait of a Sound Design Artist

It's easy to ignore sound when working on a video project...after all, it is a visual medium and so much focus is put on what it will 'look' like.

But whether it is years of experience, or just my desire to get it right, I have always made sure to give equal time and importance to sound...the music, sfx and voice...everything you hear has to be given attention in order for a project to be complete.  You simply cannot tell the story without good sound.

Here's a short film from the folks at storm and shelter about sound designer Ali Lacey and how he masters his craft...enjoy!

Artisan Series : 1

I'm excited to present a special project I've just completed.  Since recently purchasing new equipment, I wanted to do an artisan film series to help familiarize myself with the new toys...so the subject of my first film happens to be someone I know very well...a creative and talented craftsman...My Dad!

I hope you enjoy it...feel free to offer feedback.  I still have a lot to learn when it comes to using a DSLR, but I hope to do more projects like this so I can continue to improve.  Thanks and Enjoy!

For those of us who geek out on this stuff, here's my equipment list used for this project:
-Canon 5D Mark III
-Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L Lens
-GoPro Hero3+
-Sennheiser MKE600
-Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 Monopod/head
-Manfrotto 504HD head and 535 tripod
-Cinevate Duzi slider
